College and Career Center

Located at the Central Library.The Center offers resources on college, graduate school, financial aid, college entrance examinations, career research and guidance, job hunting information,and test preparation. The Schwab-Rosenhouse Center at the Central Library also provides students and parents free one-on-one sessions with a professional college & career counselor who will help with college and scholarship searches, career counseling, and job search guidance. Library Database Practice Tests and Test Preparation

  • Learning Express Library
    SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, and Civil Service Practice Exams and Test Preparation. Note: Accessing the Learning Express Library requires you to create a free account, using your library barcode number as your username.
  • Testing & Education Reference Center
    Provides practice tests and other tools for career-changers and high school and college students. It also includes a family college planning center, scholarship information, an educational program directory, and career assessment.     Free, live, online, employment assistance service that features resume templates, a 24-hour-turnaround resume improvement lab, live-chat interview coaching, and job-hunting tips and resources. The live-chat interview coaching service is available daily, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. (PDT). All other services are available 24/7. If using a non-library computer, enter your Sacramento Public Library card barcode and PIN when prompted.

Job Networking Meetings for Adult Job Seekers and Career Changers

Free College Preparatory One-Stop Seminars

  • SAT Practice Test
    Prepare for the SATs by practicing with a real SAT test under real test conditions! Kaplan Test Prep will administer a practice test on the dates listed. The SAT Practice is open to all high school students.
  • SAT Test Secrets 101
    Learn to score higher on the SAT using key Kaplan test taking strategies. This workshop is open to students who took the SAT Practice Test the previous Saturday(test results will be available),their parents, and anyone else interested in improving their test scores. 
  • Completing College Applications
